Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

CognitionCatalysts ("we", "us", or "our") operates cognitioncatalysts.com. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights around it. We keep this simple because we believe you deserve to actually understand it.

1. What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Your name and email address
  • Password (stored encrypted, never in plain text)
  • Profile information you choose to add

When you use the platform, we automatically collect:

  • Challenges you've attempted, solved, or bookmarked
  • Solutions and approaches you submit
  • Your score, XP, and leaderboard position
  • Basic usage data — pages visited, time spent, browser type
  • IP address and device type

2. How We Use It

  • To run your account and show your progress
  • To power the leaderboard and community features
  • To send you product updates (you can unsubscribe anytime)
  • To improve the platform — what questions people find hard, where they drop off
  • To provide AI-powered grading of your submissions

We do not sell your data. We do not show you ads. We do not use your data for any purpose beyond operating this platform.

3. AI Grading

When you submit a solution for AI grading, your response is sent to an AI API (currently Anthropic Claude) to evaluate your approach. We do not use your submissions to train any AI models. Submissions are processed and not stored by the AI provider beyond the immediate request.

4. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We may use basic analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how people use the site. These tools collect anonymised usage data only.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. This may affect some features like staying logged in.

5. Data Sharing

We only share your data with:

  • Supabase — our database and authentication provider
  • Anthropic — for AI grading of submissions (anonymised where possible)
  • Vercel / hosting providers — to serve the website

All providers are contractually required to protect your data. We do not share your data with any third party for marketing purposes.

6. Your Rights

You can at any time:

  • Access your data — email us and we'll send you everything we have
  • Delete your account — this removes your personal data from our systems
  • Correct inaccurate information — update via your profile settings
  • Unsubscribe from emails — every email has an unsubscribe link

7. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised usage data (not linked to you) may be retained for analytics.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security practices — encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, and access controls. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously.

9. Children

CognitionCatalysts is intended for users aged 16 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes, we'll notify you by email or a notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.

11. Contact
